Opening - Operations Manager (Part-Time)

The Central Oregon Youth Orchestra is seeking a motivated Operations Manager with outstanding communication and project management skills who will contribute to a positive, youth centered, music education environment. The Operations Manager supports students and families in the program, secures venues for rehearsals and performances, and collaborates with other regional youth programs to enhance COYO’s mission and outreach.

Summary of the Operations Manager Position

The COYO Operations Manager oversees the overall execution of COYO’s mission in the provision of ensemble training opportunities during a yearly programming season (September - May) as well as enrichment opportunities during the off-season when possible. The Operations Manager manages and directs the operational work of orchestral conductors, sectional coaches, contractual staff, and
volunteers. The Operations Manager supports students and families in the program, secures venues for rehearsals and performances, and collaborates with other regional youth programs to enhance COYO’s mission and outreach. The Operations Manager helps guide COYO in its goal of providing a vital and accessible program for the musical education of youth in Central Oregon, and assisting in developing COYO’s future vision alongside its Board of Directors in a holistic manner.

Candidates who feel that their skill sets do not match all the listed qualifications described above are encouraged to consider applying as we evaluate candidates holistically. This contractual part-time position answers to the COYO Board of Directors and compensation is based on qualifications and experience. The Operations Manager must be able to work evenings and/or weekend hours. This position ebbs and flows with the seasonal academic calendar of the youth demographic we serve, increasing in intensity during concerts, performances and workshops.

Opening - Youth Philharmonic Conductor

The Central Oregon Youth Orchestra is seeking a conductor to conduct the Youth Philharmonic ensemble. An ideal conducting candidate will lead our young musicians to develop orchestral skills, sound technique, artistry, and teamwork. They are responsible for artistic direction, selecting appropriate repertoire, running rehearsals, conducting performances, and coordinating additional opportunities for enrichment. They will also assist with student auditions, coach sectional rehearsals, and act as a community advocate.
